How I Defeated Obesity

My personal experience
By: Udit Srivastava

I am a big food fan and when I start eating my favourite food, specially that yummy chicken curry, cheese pizza then it is hard for me to stop eating it.
Back in the days, when I was a kid I used to eat all the ice creams, chocolates and sweats that my dad used to get and because of that my younger brother always used to complaint to our mamma about this.
When I was at school I used to burn my calories by doing physical workout but now due to my work schedule and lifestyle habits it was hard to find time to do the level of workout that is required to maintain an appropriate level of weight in accordance with my height. Also, I became lethargic towards going to Gym to do the workout, even though its just at a stone throw away distance from my home.
As a result I became overweight by 13 kgs and my personality became unappealing. Further, unknowingly my cholesterol level went up and my blood pressure was way above the normal acceptable level. I came to know about this when I went for my complete health checkup. The doctor told me that I need to take care of my blood pressure and cholesterol in order to prevent heart and other related diseases in future. All these were somewhere connected to my excess weight.
While I was in the hospital I realised that the time has come for me to weak up to the reality and do something to control my weight otherwise I would be going there for a long time.
As I'm not fond of going to GYM, thus, from the next day onwards I started taking stairs instead of elevators. My previous apartment was on the 7th floor so I thought that if I start taking stairs then I could shed some extra pounds. When I started doing this I extended this to 11 th floor and then took the elevator or the stairs to the 7th floor. Believe me it was very difficult for me as I was not used to doing physical exercises. I suffered cramps in my legs. I also started doing brisk walking. After few days I started feeling bit light so I thought that I should visit my doctor and get a mini checkup done. When I measured my weight I found that nothing much had happened. I managed to shed only few grams. Also when the doctor monitored my blood pressure, she told me that it was not normal. As I explained my physical workout to her, she advised me that since my blood pressure was high I should refrain from doing such kind of workout and especially climbing stairs and brisk walk. After hearing this I got puzzled because as per my schedule it was difficult for me to go to the Gym. Moreover I was having this craving of eating tasty and rich food.
I then started to look for alternatives. I thought that I could try GM diet but then thought I was tough and once the diet tenure would get over then again I would gain weight and probably more then I would loose.
Another thing that came to my mind was to attend weight management school. But when I searched for some branded schools then I found that they were expensive. And I was also not sure that whether I would be able to attend regular sessions or not.
Finally, I found myself in a confusing situation.
I was determined to loose weight and eventually after few days I finally had my first breakthrough.
On a Sunday  morning my wife cooked some very delicious breakfast and its aroma was very encouraging for me to eat lots of it. And I did exactly that.
Later in the day I had slightly less amount of lunch as I feeling heavier due to my earlier meal. Till this time I had few glasses of water. Later in the evening I had tea with my wife and went out for a light walk for about twenty minutes. Due to my earlier food intake I was still feeling stuffed. Thus, in the evening I had some fruits in order to ensure that I have enough energy to last till my next meal i.e. breakfast, the following morning.
Next day when I woke up I felt a bit light and fresh, much better than previous days.
I then realised that I should try this diet pattern for few days and see if this can make a difference.
After three to four days I was feeling much better. Again the trick was heavy or kingsize breakfast of my choice, slightly light lunch than the breakfast and only fruits or raw vegetables like carrot in dinner.
It was not that easy that it sounds. I still remember, when I go out with my family they used to have delicious food in front of me but I used to hold myself. Once my wife and my daughter were eating dominos pizza in dinner and I was eating an apple and my mouth was full of water.
At times I used to have so much of craving at night that I used to eat rich food. But I restricted myself to this exception to only once a week. For example at times I used to eat pizza once a week and mostly on a weekend. However, I used to again promise myself that for next four to six days I would not eat anything else except fruits or raw vegetables in my dinner.
The fruits that I chose were Apples, Mellon, watermelon, oranges and papaya. It's not necessary to have all of them together. I used to have them in various
